Lab work Breathalyzer Device
This innovative idea is a device that collects and measures content that would traditionally be only collected and measured through blood lab work and urine samples. This lab work breathalyzer could be painless (unlike needles), and can also assist patients with becoming proactive about their health because of the convenience, and can be distributed by a medical professional which could solve a transportation problem for traditional lab work. This product could be covered by medical insurance, or as accessible to purchase as a contactless thermometer. In 1874, Francis E Anstie made the observation that small amounts of alcohol were excreted in breathe. The innovative idea that I have follows this logic: Since small amounts of alcohol can be excreted in breath, then a person who drank a lot of orange juice, for example 1 hour ago, could excrete orange juice(vitamin c) in breathe. Or, soda(glucose) can be excreted in breath, etc. In 1927, a Chicago chemist, William Duncan McNally invented a breathalyser in which the breath moving through chemicals in water would change color. The greater the color change, the more alcohol there was present in breathe. This technology can be adapted to the innovative idea that I have, for example, the greater the change, the more vitamin d or iron is present in the breathe. Like a drunkometer, that collected a breath sample directly into a balloon inside the machine, the breath sample can then be pumped through an acidified solution. But instead of alcohol, If there is niacin in the breath sample, the solution would change color. This lab work breathalyzer could use a fuel cell ldl (for example) or a variety of doctor ordered sensor for lab work.
